About SiteSeeing: Community Development

SiteSeeing: Community Development (CD) helps communities develop a strategic vision for their growth and development. We involve residents, city planners, community organizations and other stakeholders in a cooperative community planning process. The result? A cohesive, long-range guideplan that features development principles and outlines neighborhood assets and opportunities.

The SiteSeeing CD Difference

SiteSeeing CD helps decision-makers "see" their neighborhood, develop a common language and base of information, and create development principles to help make informed, collaborative decisions about the future design and development of their neighborhood.

Our process is collaborative, allowing the voices and viewpoints of the community to share equal weight with those of the political leaders and large development interests. Further, each community SiteSeeing CD guideplan is unique, reflecting the singular nature of the neighborhood, including its history, infrastructure, social and economic characteristics, and goals.

History of SiteSeeing

SiteSeeing: Community Development was created by SiteLines Education in response to community stakeholders' need for a results-oriented process for creating redevelopment guideplans. Based on the award-winning curriculum "SiteSeeing: Making Neighborhoods Visible," SiteSeeing CD is proven to give participants the tools to accurately and cooperatively vision their neighborhood both as it is, and as they wish it to be.
